Silky Fainting Goat
Association LLC
Welcome to
the Miniature Silky Fainting Goat Association and Registry. MSFGA is a privately owned
organization developed to meet the growing interest in the Miniature Silky
Fainting Goats, also known as Mini Silkies. We are dedicated to providing
information and registry services for everyone interested in this new and exciting
breed of goat. There are links from this page to the standard
for Miniature Silky Fainting Goats, which is in printable format.
There is also information on how to get a goat into the registry as a foundation
animal, to view that information, click on the "Foundation Application" button
at the bottom of the page. Your
application and pictures will be reviewed by our committee. If the committee
agrees that your goat conforms to the standard, your goat will be
registered as a foundation animal in the MSFGA herd books. The books will remain
open until we feel we have obtained a reasonable gene pool; at that point there
will be an announcement and date given when the books will be closed. After the
books have closed, the only animals entered in the herd books will be
those that are born out of two registered parents.
You must have your herd, business or farm name registered with the MSFGA in order to register your goats with us. There
are forms for you to register your herd name and information on how to go about that in a printable format, click on the "Herd Name Application" button at the bottom of the page. Information and Applications of registration for kids out of registered parents are also in a printable format, click on "Registration Application" button below. For those of you are interested in how it all began, should check out the history page which has pictures and information.
T
here seems to be some confusion on whether Mini Silkies have to have Nigerian Dwarf goats in their background or not. There is no requirement that the Mini Silkies have to be crossed with Nigerian Dwarf Goats. There are small fainters out there that will qualify as Mini Silkies even though there are no known Nigerian Dwarf Goats in their background. We encourage all who are interested in developing this breed to submit your goats for foundation approval, regardless of what their backgrounds are. Mini Silkies are not required to faint, so if you have a goat that looks like a Mini Silky, but it doesn't faint, we would be interested in considering it for foundation status. We are striving for a particular look, if you go to our Visual Standard page, you will see photos of what a Miniature Silky Fainting Goat should look like.
